Santa Fe Public Schools are currently accepting applications for the following position(s):

2017-2018 Community Prevention Specialist

Location: BF Young

General Function:
Serve as part of a dynamic team in the SFPS Office of who support students and families for school and life success. Serve as Alcohol Policy Coordinator of the Santa Fe Prevention Alliance coordinating public awareness campaigns, policy advocacy and other strategies to prevent underage and excessive drinking, opiate use disorders/misuse and reduce harms related to substance use.

Education/Training Experience:

Bachelorís Degree in public health, education, social work, or related and 2 years related experience OR Associateís Degree and 5 years related experience
Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google Suite

Bilingual preferred (Eng/Span)

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of evidence-based prevention strategies
Community organizing skills
Policy development and advocacy skills
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to produce professional documents such as reports, flyers, etc.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Knowledge of social media and other communication strategies
Must have good driving record to occasionally transport students

Essential Job Functions:
All functions are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental regulations, facility and computer security policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the District. Current essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

Participate in strategic planning and implementation efforts
Provide support for SF Prevention Alliance Committees and Work Groups, including agenda development, notes, logistics and project management
Develop and implement related educational campaigns including community events
Develop and implement related policy and environmental strategies
Assist with recruitment and development of coalition membership and leadership
Organize and facilitate coalition meetings
Educate elected officials, stakeholders and community organizations
Assist with process and outcome evaluation
Assist with reporting responsibilities
Assist with sustainability and funding of coalition
Provide support to the Office of Student Wellness as requested
