Interventionist Teacher (2 positions)
Location or Department: William A. Bell
Job Summary: Interventionist performs a variety of supports to students identified as at-risk in Reading and/or Math. Interventionist will primarily assist teachers with assessing and implementing research-based interventions to scaffold learners in the skills or concepts in which they are deficient.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrates command of research-based interventions for Math or Reading
Participates in regularly scheduled staff, district, regional, and school level meetings as required
Assists teachers with differentiation strategies based on student data
Helps schools with assessment processes
Develops and models strategic intervention lesson plans
Supports school-wide implementation of RTI
Helps schools identify appropriate interventions
Provides support to teachers in their classrooms with students
Conducts classrooms, groups or one-on-one interventions within the classroom setting
Meets with classroom teachers to collaborate on inclusive interventions
Participates in regular professional development to improve knowledge and skills
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Requirements: Education and Experience Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Strong organizational and management skills
Experience in strategies of differentiation and interventions
Knowledge and expertise in reading and/or math curriculum
Working knowledge of the Indiana Academic Standards/Indiana Common Core Standards
Demonstrates high proficiency with writing and technology
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professional staff members
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Indiana Teacher's license or Valid Teachers license from another state
Language Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to compose documents and tools for instructional use required. Thorough knowledge of grammatical rules, spelling, punctuation and formats required.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and all other statistical measurement tools.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to utilize courtesy and tact when communicating with others to deliver clear and concise messages.
