Aspen School District is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Aspen School District Psychologist

Job Description: Aspen School District seeks a full time school psychologist beginning the 2018-2019 academic year.

Reports to: District Director of Special Education

Terms of Employment: 9-month, certified, exempt employee

Compensation: Support Services Personnel Salary Schedule

Work Schedule: As per assignment in keeping with 9-month, teacher work calendar

Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to facilitate learning and promote the cognitive, social, and personal development of all students through consultation and direct counseling services, program development and evaluation, specific assessments, and collaboration with various school teams.

Principle Responsibilities:
Assessment and Interpretation:

- Lead the Functional Behavior Assessment process in assigned buildings
- Lead the threat assessment process in assigned buildings
- Uses assessment data about students in their environment(s) in developing appropriate programs
- Administer, score, and interpret necessary assessments (broad and focused) to assist in determining disabling conditions, and/or tiered programming for students according to State and Federal Regulations and according to Aspen School District policies and procedures

Program Development:
- Provide guidance regarding the districtís process for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS); participate in school district MTSS teams and assist with the facilitation and documentation of research-based methods for academic and behavioral supports

Direct Intervention for Students:
- Provide direct mental health counseling services to targeted individual students and student groups to support the teaching process and maximize learning and adjustment

Consultation and Training:
- Provide consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance student learning and achievement.
- Assist Individual Education Program teams with the development and implementation of programs to meet identified learning and adjustment needs

Communication and Relationship Skills:
- Write behavior plans in conjunction with other pertinent team members (e.g., education staff and parents) and assist with behavior interventions when deemed appropriate
- Serve as a resource for general and special education staff to promote and implement academic and behavioral supports
- Communicate effectively, sharing pertinent evaluation/observation information with parents, students, and agencies as appropriate

Position Requirements:

Minimum Education:
Masterís degree

Licenses or Certifications:
- Current Colorado Professional Special Services License with an endorsement as a School Psychologist for ages 0-21.
- Annual Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification - training provided by the Aspen School District
- First Aid/CPR Certification- training provided by the Aspen School District

Minimum Experience: 3 to 5 years of successful, school-based experience

Essential Environmental Demands: Mostly clean and comfortable

Essential Physical Requirements:
- Occasional heavy lifting; management and de-escalation of students with aggressive behaviors
- Frequent bending, squatting, standing, reaching, and walking
- Frequent sitting
- Repetitive Motion

Skill Requirements:
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate well in English, both speaking and writing (Bilingual Spanish preferable)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate with team members
- Leadership skills that support program objectives
- Understanding of the IEP process
- Knowledge of the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) process
- Knowledge of progress monitoring tools and techniques
- Demonstrated ability to administer and interpret cognitive and social/emotional diagnostic evaluations
- Demonstrated ability to provide evaluation results clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing

- Actively contributes to the goals and success of all teams and team members through collaboration, cooperation, and flexibility (give and take) in team discussions, activities, and decision making
- Delivers services as determined by the IEP or instructional schedule
- Serves as a liaison between Aspen School District and human service agencies, sharing appropriate information when needed, once proper parental consent is obtained
- Maintains ethics, legal responsibility, and confidentiality
- Handles disagreements and conflicts in a diplomatic manner that does not result in decreased effectiveness over time
- Is able to effectively give and receive constructive feedback
- Stays current on professional knowledge and technical skills through training opportunities and participation in relevant professional committees and organizations
- Demonstrates objective and measurable achievement of individual goals
- Develops new goals when current goals have been achieved
- Communicates job related problems and difficulties to immediate supervisor

Primary Location: District Wide

Salary Range: $57,000.00 - $84,000.00 / Salary
