Summer LOOP Lead Teacher (18 Openings)

GRPS GREA Certified - $25.60

Program Dates: June 25, 2018 – July 26, 2018
Program Days: Monday – Thursday; Academic Days are Mondays and Tuesdays
Hours: 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., 5 Weeks
Hours Per Week: 6 hours
Tutoring – 1 hr. (Tuesday and Wednesday) 4 hours – Planning

Professional Development Days:
Dates: June 20th and June 21st
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Location: Alger Middle School

HOST LOOP SITES: 1 – Lead Teacher per Site
Harrison Park: Aberdeen, CA Frost, Harrison Park, North Park Montessori, Shawmut Hills
GR Ford: Brookside (4th - 5th), Campus (K-5), East Leonard, GR Ford, MLK (4th-8th), Sherwood Park, Alger, GRUPA (6t h - 8th), GR Montessori
SWCC: Burton Elementary, Cesar Chavez, Dickinson, SWCC

Job Summary:
Provide quality academic instruction for students attending the LOOP summer school program; differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, implement and schedule academic summer school curriculum.
- Teach the required curriculum and effectively maintain and monitor on-going student progress.
- Schedule academic support staff.
- Manage summer school academic program staff.
- Schedule, arrange, and facilitate meetings with academic support staff, Site Coordinator and summer school principal.
- Serve as liaison between Site Coordinator, summer school administration, Summer of Success faculty/staff, and LOOP academic staff.
- Collect, review for accuracy, and submit bi-weekly academic support staff timesheets to Office of Extended Learning.
- Provide students with effective instruction/modeling/interventions in the various behavioral areas.
- Develop detail and concise lesson plans for each subject area; plan and provide appropriate educational supplemental activities to meet both groups and individual needs of all children within the classroom.
- Utilize best classroom management practices to create a learning environment that is conducive to learning, curtails disruptive behaviors and enhances students’ self-esteem.
- Responsible for student academic progress report follow through.
- Attend MANDATORY scheduled monthly Lead Teachers meetings and trainings.
- Attend Professional Development opportunities as required and/or offered.

Preparation, Training, Experience and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Current appropriate Michigan teaching certificate
- Display physical, social, mental and emotional soundness in order to execute the duties of job.
- Serve as a role model for all students and within school community.
- Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents and the community in positive, supportive and cooperative ways.
- Encourage the team spirit and contribute as a team member in the decision making processes of the school as facilitated by the building administrator.
- Maintain and promote school district goals and objectives.
- Comply with state, federal and District policies, procedures, rules, and the union contract.
- Regular and on-time attendance is required.
- Other duties as assigned.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing in the English language, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
