Shelter Care Alternative Education Teacher (part-time)
Location: Brown County Detention Center
Start Date: 08/26/2018
Description: The Green Bay Public School District is accepting applications for a part-time alternative education teacher. This position will provide instruction to students in Shelter Care from 8:00 a.m. - noon daily during the 2018-19 school year. The candidate selected for this position will need to have strong communication skills and work closely with the Bay View Counselor on educational needs of the students at Shelter Care. In addition, the teacher will need to communicate and work with all faculty at Shelter Care.
By providing an individualized learning plan to facilitate the achievement of standards and benchmarks of a middle school program or high school diploma, through small group or one-on-one instruction, the alternative education teacher in this position promotes development of skills to ensure college, career, and community readiness. A variety of learning activities and experiences to support transition to a traditional school setting, full-time employment or other post-secondary options are provided.
The teacher selected for this part-time assignment needs to have strong knowledge of content and pedagogy, and needs to demonstrate knowledge of students, child development, and learning processes. Strong technology skills and the ability to use all forms of Google tools is necessary to successfully deliver content to students and communicate with key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: - Education: Bachelors Degree
- Certification: Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Alternative Education certification at the appropriate grade level.
Desired Qualifications; Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Special Education certification at the middle/high school level.
Working Conditions: - Flexible and willing to share any schedule changes with all affected.
- Travel required to homeschool (Dr. Rosa Minoka-Hill ) for staff meetings.
