School Counselor (part-time)
Location: Wequiock Elementary and School(s) to be Assigned

Description: As part of the Green Bay Area Public School District staff, you recognize that School Counselors serve some of the most challenging students in the state and do an awesome job at ensuring students are treated with dignity and respect ensuring every student, every day, is supported in experiencing engagement, equity, and excellence. Currently, we have a 70% vacancy for the 2018-19 school year. The assignment for this position will be 20% at Wequiock Elementary School and 50% at schools assigned by the District.
Preference will be given to current School Counselors, particularly those who have experience working in settings with a large number of high needs students including students in poverty, at-risk, and/or in alternative education settings. Preference will also be given to candidates who have previous practice and skill implementing restorative and trauma informed care best practices.
The School Counselor creates, organizes, and implements guidance and counseling activities and programs that are designed to help all students learn and develop education and career plans in order to become responsible and productive citizens. By implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career and personal/social development for all students, each and every student is prepared to be college, career and community ready. School counselors provide individual, group and/or classroom instruction to students to allow for proficiency in the districtís curriculum to support attendance, positive behaviors, and academic success to ensure graduation from high school.
This position may also serve in the role of Counselor Coordinator, should the District have a need to assign related essential functions. The role of Counselor Coordinator is to implement the Wisconsin Comprehensive School Counseling Model, including developing, implementing and continually assessing the Districtís school counseling curriculum; to support bullying and suicide prevention/curriculum in collaboration with the School Social Work Department and to support attendance initiatives to ensure college, career and community readiness.
Qualifications Required: Education: Masterís Degree in School Counseling with Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction School Counselor License
Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of experience in School Counseling; Five (5) years successful experience if serving in the role of Counselor Coordinator
