Little Rock School District is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):
Location: Southwest High School
Qualifications: 1. A master’s degree or higher with Arkansas certification as a secondary principal or eligible to hold the required Arkansas administrative license by the first assigned workday.
2. English/Spanish bilingual is a plus, but not required. Demonstrated experience in English Language Development (ELD) and Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) strategies, strongly preferred.
3. At least five years’ successful teaching experience and two years’ K-12 educational leadership experience with demonstrated results in improving academic performance of students. Experience in an urban, high-poverty, and/or turnaround school highly preferred.
4. Knowledge of curriculum development and successful teaching methods including successful experience with parent and staff involvement.
5. Evidence of ability and demonstrated success as a competent educational leader in curriculum and instruction bringing innovation initiatives to the classroom as a means of teaching core curriculum, improving test scores, igniting love and understanding of innovation initiatives in education, supporting innovation, increasing student retention and graduation rates by instilling a culture of service excellence, as well as the requirements of the revised/reauthorized Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
6. Ability to manage fiscal, physical, and human resources to successfully carry out the function and programs of the school by communicating effectively, both orally and in writing with all stakeholders developing leadership teams, including cultural sensitivity for all students, parents, and the community at large.
Reports To: The High Principal will report to the Superintendent or his/her designee.
Job Goal: The School Principal is charged to administer the coordination and management of the school campus and academic activities. Employees in this job classification are responsible for developing, administering, and monitoring educational programs, optimizing academic opportunities, and promoting the safe and successful development of each student. This position is accountable for enforcing and ensuring academic integrity, compliance with the faculty/staff contract, appropriate credentials of teaching faculty, the achievement of academic objectives through instructional programs, and accomplishes such in coordination with School Board goals and initiatives.
Special Note: This new high school, grades 9-12, is scheduled to open July 1, 2020. The successful candidate will report to work no later than July 1, 2019 in order to have one year of school opening preparation.

- Nurtures and sustains a culture of collaboration, trust, learning, and high expectations. Creates a personalized and motivating learning environment for students.
- Supervises instruction and develops assessment and accountability systems to monitor student progress. Develops the instructional and leadership capacity of staff.
C. Managing Organizational Systems and Safety:
- Promotes the success of every student by ensuring management of the organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.
- Develops the capacity for distributed leadership. Ensures teacher and organizational time is focused to support quality instruction and student learning.
- Assists in effective recruitment and recommends, develops, supervises, and evaluates staff.
- Assumes overall leadership for aggressive and progressive student recruitment/retention efforts, promoting student recruitment campaigns and activities to attract and retain a diverse student population for general enrollment and a variety of student programs.
- Demonstrates fiscal management capabilities to ensure operational efficiency.
D. Collaborating with Families and Stakeholders:
- Promotes the success of every student by collaborating with faculty and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.
- Maintains a clear and open communication process with all internal and external school communities in the shared leadership of the school.
- Promotes and encourages community, industry, and higher education partnerships.
- Collects and analyzes data and information pertinent to the educational environment. Builds and sustains positive relationships with families and caregivers.
E. Ethics and Integrity:
- Promotes the success of every student by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.
- Ensures a system of accountability for every student’s academic and social success. Models principles of self-awareness, reflective practice, transparency, and ethical behavior.
- Demonstrates appreciation for and sensitivity to the diversity among individual and specific populations.
- Respects confidentiality.
F. The Education System:
- Promotes the success of every student by understanding, responding to, and influencing the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context.
- Asses, analyzes, and anticipates emerging trends and initiatives in order to adapt leadership strategies.

- Knows and applies policies, procedures, laws, and regulations enacted by school/district, state, and federal authorities.
Terms of Employment: Pay Schedule 733 – Grade 17 (76) $63,751 - $112,414 Twelve month, 245 day-contract, plus benefits package. This position may be subject to relocation incentives.
NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon experience and education. FLSA: Exempt
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
