Special Education - Compliance Specialist Teacher Positions
Location: Department for Exceptional Students
Job Description: Works collaboratively with others to achieve special education performance and compliance goals. Provides support with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) such as evaluating development, monitoring, and implementation. Monitors and supports the compliance of schools with timelines, state and federal regulations and the instruction of students with disabilities ensuring access to the general education curriculum.
Additional Job Information: * Recommends, monitors, and supports instructional and behavioral strategies in the learning environment. Provides support to teachers and school administrators in the effective implementation and monitoring of high-quality instructional programs. Demonstrates knowledge of the link between curriculum standards and IEP goals. Supports and monitors initiatives from the District Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plans.
* Serves as a liaison to schools and parents in the identification, evaluation, and placement process of students with disabilities. Collaborates with community and state/federal agencies to plan and execute various federal program components to ensure compliance with IDEA and NCLB requirements.
* Conducts school visits and state monitoring. Audits student records to provide guidance for the development and accountability of the IEP process. Models and provides professional learning on instructional techniques and interventions. Provides continuous support to teachers in the development of their paraprofessionals by reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating their work in the learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in special education field required.
At least 3 years of teaching experience in an special education environment and serving on District-level reform teams and/or initiatives.
Must have current Georgia Professional Standards Commission Certification and be eligible for Leadership certification (minimum of L-5 required).
