SALARY & BENEFITS:: $17.00 per hour or $127.50 per day. This is a non - benefited position.
All applicants must have a valid substitute teaching license from the Nevada Department of Education. Information on obtaining a Substitute Certification can be found at www.teachers.nv.gov . A valid driverís license/identification card issued by the state of residence is required by selected applicants.
Applicants selected must be able to teach a variety of subjects to students of the Carson City School District and work on an On-Call as needed basis ONLY. Bilingual preferred.
Must be able to pass the pre-employment drug screen test.
General Job Description:
The Student Academic Support Specialistís primary responsibility is to provide tiered instruction to students in small group settings. The Student Academic Support Specialist will provide instruction based on analysis of assessment data administered throughout the school year. Under the supervision of the school principal, this position is responsible for supporting and providing intensive instructional and academic interventions to pupils who have been identified as deficient in the subject areas of reading/writing/and/or mathematics. Under the guidance of the Principal, coordinates the in-school interventions program that includes a wide range of academic and enrichment activities. Oversees the operation of day-to-day programs in accordance with program guidelines. Identifies students and ensures their attendance and participation in the program. Communicates with families and teachers regarding student attendance and progress. Works with partner agencies to schedule enrichment opportunities for students. Plans and chairs advisory committee meetings, to include preparation of data on student attendance and academic achievement. Keeps attendance and program records. Enters program data into state database according to the schedule set by the Nevada Department of Education.

Good analytical skills to understand how educational needs can be addressed through the design and delivery of after-school education programs.
Good reading, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and good presentation skills.
Database, management, and software systems in an educational setting (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Infinite Campus, Mastery Connect, NWEA-MAP, etc).
$127.50/day, 7.50 hours/day, and a non-benefited position. All applicants must have a valid substitute teaching license from the Nevada Department of Education
Experience &/or Training Required:
District, departmental, and campus policies and procedures.
Working knowledge of current public education programs and trends.
Any combination of training, education, and experience, which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position: work with students and staff, coordinate school activities, communicate with teachers and administrators, and maintain accurate electronic and paper records. Should also be able to supervise groups of students, manage behavior problems and ensure student safety while attending the program. The Student Academic Support Specialist will monitor academic progress and implement supports to ensure high quality academic supports aligned with the NVACS (Nevada Academic Content Standards).
Licenses or Certificates Required:
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent certificate, college education preferred or continuing education in related field preferred, must have a current Nevada substitute-teaching license, a valid driverís license issued by the state of residence, and an original Social Security Card.

The Student Academic Support Specialist will work closely with the school administration and leadership team to support effective evidence-based instructional practices that will have a positive impact on student achievement.
The Student Academic Support Specialist will operate under a flexible start schedule that may require them to work up to 7.5 hours per day, but the start time will vary based on daily responsibilities. The Student Academic Support Specialist will be selected by the school Principal. The Student Academic Support Specialist must demonstrate the ability to improvise and make adjustments in order to meet the students, staff, and parents.
