Details: Loudoun County Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following licensed position(s): READING SPECIALISTS LOCATION: GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: - Holds a Collegiate Professional License with an endorsement as a reading specialist. - Has a Master's degree in reading or a Master's degree with a reading endorsement. - Has three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience in which the teaching of reading was an important responsibility. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Reading Specialist provides expert attention to the needs of students in the area of reading. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assesses the reading strengths and needs of students, provide that information to parents and educational staff, and use the results to plan and implement an appropriate reading program for the student. - Coordinates the administration of literacy assessments and monitor the use of data from the assessments. - Provides instruction to students who are struggling with reading. - Supports, supplements, and extends classroom teaching to implement a quality-reading program that meets the needs of students. - Leads professional development in literacy, model strategies or techniques for teachers, and conducts demonstration or collaborative lessons. - Serves as a resource to educators, the parents, and community. - Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
