High School History and Social Sciences Teacher - 0.4 FTE

The Needham Public Schools seeks outstanding applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences for the position of 0.4 FTE History & Social Sciences teacher at Needham High School. Diverse candidates from non-traditional pathways to teaching are encouraged to apply.

Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will plan and teach 2 sections of History & Social Sciences as well as work collaboratively with members of the department to support student learning and growth. Under the general supervision of the History & Social Sciences Department Chair, this position would be responsible for developing the historical thinking skills as well as the historical research and writing skills, while delivering the content learning standardss outline in State and District curriculum guides. Additionally, developing the civic knowledge, skills and dispositions, that provide students with the agency to be active participants in the democratic process. As a Needham High School educator, this position will work collaboratively to integrate the attributes, skills, and knowledge made explicit in the Portrait of a Needham Graduate, including the preparation of students to be socially and culturally responsive contributors,

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree is preferred. The candidate should possess good communication and interpersonal skills. He/she should have experience working with and/or teaching high school students; an understanding of the needs of students at this age; a collaborative work ethic; training/experience in the use of instructional technology; a commitment to inclusive pedagogy; and the potential to contribute to student life beyond the classroom.

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license as a History Teacher or other social science.
