Prince George’s County Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position(s):

Classroom Teacher - Multiple Disabilities


Under the direction of the Principal, the Classroom Teacher Multiple Disabilities will be responsible for providing instruction to students with low incidence special needs including intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and multiple disabilities. The incumbent will provide instruction and case management for students with significant vision and hearing deficits with additional disabilities, including significant developmental delays. The Classroom Teacher Multiple Disabilities will implement best practice strategies in the classroom while recognizing individual instructional needs; provide accommodations and modifications to curriculum and materials to meet students' needs; communicate effectively with team members and parents; implement toileting protocols when required; and perform other responsibilities as assigned

Demonstrated ability to provide differentiated instructional techniques that inspire, motivate and meet the individual educational needs of all students;

Demonstrated ability to develop and nurture an atmosphere and educational environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of all students;

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of strategies in monitoring and evaluating student performance and developing and implementing plans to improve student performance;

Demonstrated ability in integrating technology into curriculum;

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, administrators, office staff and other members of the school community;

Familiarity with best practices in the field of low incidence special education in relation to services, methodologies, communication systems, data collection, etc.;

Knowledge of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and implementation of specially designed instruction;

Knowledge in the continuum of services for students with disabilities, including familiarity with the alternate assessment and framework;

Good knowledge and understanding of the teaching /learning process; and

Excellent oral and communication skills.


Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required. Previous experience in teaching special education, working with students that exhibit intensive learning needs, behaviors and/or working in a contained special education classroom setting as well as in the inclusive environment preferred.


Holds or is eligible for a Maryland Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment.
