Teacher Expert Academy Coach
Date Available: 8/11/2025
Location: West High School
Job Summary:
The Academy Coach serves as the liaison for faculty, students, families, business partners, and community and Anchorage School District leadership to develop and sustain college and career academies for all stakeholders. This position may have a flexible work calendar, and as such may be required to work during summer, winter, or spring breaks as directed by the supervisor(s). Equivalent time off during the regular school year will be mutually agreed upon by the employee and supervisor(s). The coach reports to and is evaluated by both the site principal and appropriate central office staff.
Job Requirements:
The following are required:
A valid Alaska initial, professional, or master teaching certificate or type C special services certificate.
Experience in leadership positions within the business community and/or a school setting.
Three or more years of successful high school teaching or related career counseling experience.

Commitment to working with students, professionals, and community members in a multicultural setting
Commitment to continuous reflection and improvement
Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with teachers and administrators
Experience in the development, preparation, and presentation of professional development in a variety of formats
Experience in adult learning theory, and/or coaching, and mentoring scenarios
Experience using district, student, and site-level data to select, implement, and differentiate instruction designed to meet individual student needs
Knowledge and experience of research, best practices in instructional design, differentiating instruction, and current educational trends
Strong background in event coordination
