Summary

This position is located at the Middle School/Teen Program (MST), West Point, NY. This position is eligible for the NAF benefits package and leave accrual. This position is Mission and Weather Essential. *** Offering 100% discount on first child and no less than 25% discount for the second and subsequent children.*** This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies throughout the program. Management has the right to assign staff to locations as mission requires.
Located in the scenic Hudson Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. Child, Youth, and School (CYS) Services recognizes the challenges of our Soldiers, their Families and the Civilian workforce. Our mission, as Readiness Enablers, is to provide childcare to the West Point Community so that Soldiers and Civilians can complete their Army mission with the assurance of quality, reliable childcare. We believe that the most important contribution we can make to children's lives is to provide an environment that will foster the development of positive self-concept. Middle School and Teen Program Center is open to students in grades 6-12. Planned and impromptu events and activities include fun and exciting offerings from Boys & Girls Club, 4-H, Character Counts, and Army Youth Program Curriculums. The focus is on character and leadership development, academic success and mentoring, arts and creativity, and sports, health and fitness. As an added employee incentive, the Department of Defense (DoD) granted approval to extend temporary limited commissary privileges (excluding the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products) to CYS employees. This temporary approval expires 31 December 2025.

Major Duties:

Serves as a Child and Youth Services (CYS) Assistant Director of a CYS Program with responsibility for assisting the supervisor in the operation of an assigned CYS program IAW all applicable regulations and standards.
Provides program oversight and accountability for the performance of assigned staff and the safety and well being of children and youth IAW DoD, Army and local policies and standards.
Assists in maintaining DoD/Army certification for assigned program areas, and helps ensure program achieves and retains national accreditation or Army equivalent and maintains accreditation/Army equivalent standards.
Provides appropriate staff professional recognition and/or disciplinary action. Conducts written observations of staff during all hours of operation, and evaluates employees based on established performance standards.
Works cooperatively with other CYS Managers to ensure seamless service and continuity of quality options for all children and youth. Serves as member of the CYS Program Plan Team to develop written strategies for program improvement.
